All books are priced in Sterling - we show US $ and Euro prices as a guide only - all credit cards will be chraged in sterling.
1/ You can pay us directly by Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, Solo, Switch using the online shopping cart or send Sterling Cheques or UK Postal Orders.
We now accept PayPal payments - but payment must be in Sterling and will be subject to a 4% handling charge on total cost. Please email us for details.
2/ All books are sold firm, we do not supply on approval.
3/ Payment is required in full prior to dispatch - including trade customers. Books will be held pending cheques. Credit cards are not debited until order is ready to ship. Trade terms on sales over £20.00 only, to bono fide dealers as listed in Shepherds. We will drop ship for trade customers. Please note we do NOT reserve books for Booksearchers etc.

5/ Prices shown do NOT include postage - unless otherwise instructed UK orders are mailed cheapest method (2nd class or parcel rate). We try to keep postage costs to the minimum - in general single books within the UK will be £1.50 to £3.50 (£1.50 for a light paperback, up to £3.50 for a large hardback, such as OPC or Wild Swan) Multiple orders will usually be cheaper, unless the books are all large and heavy in which case they will have to go Parcel rate, which can be up to £9.00. Postage costs are always advised before your any payment is taken from cards etc. All books are posted UNINSURED at buyer's risk. Please advise if you want insurance - not generally available to USA and many other overseas destinations. Retail orders over £120 are sent insured post, free of charge in UK (unless bulk low value items - e.g. magazines). Overseas Postage - please enquire for prices (we can offer very good prices for full & economy airmail to most countries - especially USA/Canada/Australia/NZ from £2.50 per kg on larger orders etc). Our orders are normally mailed out within 48 hours of payment being received. All UK orders are covered by Royal Mail standard compensation (£28.00). No liability whatsoever can be accepted for Overseas orders unless insurance is requested.
6/ We try to ensure that all titles shown on-line are available, but books sometime sell within hours of listing and will remain on the catalogue for a couple of days until next update therefore all orders are subject to availability. If you wish to order a book and pay by cheque please e-mail first to confirm availability - please do not send payment before checking availability and postage costs! Phone Orders only between 1000 - 1700hrs please (Mon to Sat only).
7/ We aim to describe all books accurately, but books may be returned within 7 days if found defective or not as described, however please advise before returning.
8/ All our orders are mailed in proper cardboard mailers (no old jiffy bags and newspaper!) or boxes with bubblewrap padding for maximum security. We mailed over 3000 parcels in 2004 to all corners of the World with no instances of damage and only two went missing!.
9/ We can offer very cheap economy air rates to major overseas destinations - USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, Hong Kong, Japan etc. for heavier/multiple orders.
